Thinking about this advice from Sam Altman today: “The most underrated quality of all is being really DETERMINED. This is more important than being smart. More important than having a network. More important than a great idea.

The hardest thing about starting a company is the level and frequency of bad stuff that happens to you. So much about a successful entrepreneur is just not giving up…the degree to which being a three or four standard deviation outlier on determination is a required skill wasn’t obvious to me when I started.”

Bottom-line: The hardest part isn’t the idea. It’s sticking with it when things get hard.
